How often do you think about taking care of the framework that supports you—your skeleton? Your bones are an incredibly important part of your body, yet they are often overlooked when it comes to establishing a health regime. Your skeleton has amazing characteristics of hardness, strength, and rigidity—as well as an ability to regenerate and repair itself. This ability is known as bone metabolism, and unfortunately, one of the things that can decrease bone metabolism is having too much vitamin A in your body. Too much vitamin A can hamper ossification (bone tissue formation) and contribute to osteoporosis, a condition that causes bones to become fragile, brittle, and fracture more easily. It’s strange to think of being worried about having too much of a vitamin, but excess vitamin A can actually cause other negative effects too.
