If you’re a man struggling with erectile dysfunction (ED), not knowing the cause can be a source of stress and anxiety. And since erectile dysfunction can be caused by a variety of issues, pinpointing the exact cause can be tricky. For some people, erectile dysfunction is caused by a medication they’re taking, from a prescription drug to an over-the-counter decongestant, and the issue will likely go away once the medication is stopped. But other instances of ED can be caused by underlying health issues, like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, or clogged blood vessels. ED can also occur as a result of depression, stress, anxiety, or problems within a relationship. Although it can be tempting to just pop a pill in the hopes that it will resolve your ED, it may not be the best solution for you.
